Do you only work in Southeast Portland?
Our passion is Southeast because it’s our home. But, no, we work where we find projects that are a good fit and we are eager to bring our vibe to your neck of the woods.
How long will it take to design and build an ADU?
A complete custom home design will take 3 months at its quickest. We encourage homeowners to take the time needed to thoughtfully consider each design revision and that will be different for everyone.
Permit approval, including any necessary design revisions, can then take 2-3 months or more.
Once permitted, construction timelines will be wholly dependent on your builder and building conditions, but 6-9 months is a general guide.
How much does it cost to build an ADU?
In Portland, we’re averaging around $500 per square foot for new construction. So, while plenty of variables can change this, if you want a 500sf ADU, estimate roughly $250,000 for construction.

Can you recommend a general contractor?
Yes!
Are you an architect?
We are a residential design firm, which is different than an architect. Residential designers work exclusively on residential dwellings smaller than 4,000 square feet. Architects can work in all residential and commercial contexts – tiny homes to skyscrapers.
Do you work with stock home designs?
We can always work with a pre-existing design to customize it for your site and lifestyle.
